What is snowkiting?
Snowkiting (kite skiing, kite hovering) is a fun and versatile outdoor winter sport where people use kite power to glide on snow or ice. The skier uses a kite in combination with downhill or telemark skis (or even with a snowboard) and travels or does tricks on the ice or in the fells.
Controlling the kite it is a lot easier on snow than what it is in the water. On a hard snowy surface, you can enjoy snowkiting in light breezes and even just 3 m/s is enough for gliding.
There are some risks to the sport, but knowing risks and taking them into account snowkiting is safe for you and others.
